The below outlines Lucy Smith Therapy’s general Terms & Conditions. For further information on our Privacy Policy, please see the section: Privacy Policy [link to section]
Working Agreement
The therapeutic relationship between therapist [me / Lucy Smith Therapy] and client(s) [you] is unique. To clarify the nature of this relationship and how it functions in practice, I will provide you with a Working Agreement. You will be asked to read and sign this agreement before we begin our work together. If the therapeutic relationship consists of more than one client, each individual will be required to sign their own agreement. The Working Agreement can be discussed during your initial session, where you will have the opportunity to ask any questions before signing.
Ages we work with
Lucy Smith Therapy is registered and qualified to work with adults 18+.
Children
Lucy Smith Therapy does not work with children.
Complimentary 20-minute Introductory Session
During the complimentary 20-minute video consultation, you can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable. The primary purpose of this session is to discuss practicalities, such as determining whether our schedules align and for you to ask any questions you may have. Additionally, I will provide information on how I may be able to assist you. While it is not necessary to go into great detail, offering a brief overview of your current concerns and what you hope to achieve from our therapeutic relationship can help us both assess whether I am the right therapist to support you.
Sessions
The frequency, length and timings of the sessions will be discussed in the initial correspondence and formalised in the Working Agreement.
Attendance
If you decide not to attend a session, please contact me to cancel at least 24 hours before your session is scheduled (see “Cancellation Period” below for more details).
Remote Sessions
If you are taking part remotely, then it is important to ensure that you have a confidential space in which you can have the session where you will not be overheard or interrupted. Ideally you should allow yourself some additional protected time after the session before returning to your normal daily routine. If technology fails at any point, please do try to reconnect. If I cannot reconnect to you for any reason then I will send you a text / WhatsApp / email and we can decide how to proceed. If you cannot reconnect to me for any reason then please send me a text / WhatsApp / email to let me know.
You will be assigned your own personal Zoom link from which you can access every session. Please keep note of this link. Recording of sessions is not permitted.
Terms of Payment
Sessions are to be paid by online transfer, or PayPal, and received within 24 hours post-session, using the session date as your reference. For added convenience, you can also set up a weekly direct debit or opt for an advance monthly payment. Should a session need to be rescheduled, rest assured that the payment can be carried forward to the next month or refunded, as per your preference.
Cancellation Period
In the event of rescheduling or cancelling a session, you must give a minimum of 24 hours notice. If you cancel your session within 24 hours, you will be charged in full for the session. In extenuating circumstances, I am willing to negotiate this. If I need to rearrange - and this would only be in an emergency - I would also try to give you at least 24 hours notice.
In the event the cost of the session changes, I will inform you four weeks prior.
